The SIAC defending champion Albany State Golden Rams (5-1, 3-0) are one of just three HBCU’s , along with Virginia Union and Benedict, to be ranked in both the d2football.com and AFCA D2 polls.
The Golden Rams, who are coming off a 55-7 thrashing of Edward Waters this past Saturday, moved up in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) from 22t to no. 21, right behind Texas A&M-Kingville (6-0), who also moved up to 20 from 22t. However in the d2football.com poll, Albany State dropped a spot, from no. 13 to 14, swapping spots with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association’s ( MAIAA) Nebraska-Kerney.
Albany State hosts Benedict, who is also nationally ranked, this Saturday for ASU’s homecoming;,kickoff time is scheduled for 2:00 pm EST.
